Demo Work’s Story
Demo Work started under the name "Dumpman," originally focusing on cleaning construction sites. Operating out of a small home office in Gig Harbor, the company built a reputation for reliability and efficiency. This early phase laid the groundwork for what would become a trusted name in demolition services.
The company took on its first full-scale demolition project, removing an internally flooded church. This job marked a major shift, proving that Demo Work had the capability to handle complex demolition work. It was a turning point that led to larger, more ambitious projects in the years ahead.
Shawn, the company’s CEO, made a pivotal decision to leave his position at Rhine Demolition and fully commit to growing Demo Work. His leadership turned the business from a small operation into an emerging force in the demolition industry. With his focus entirely on expansion and innovation, Demo Work began securing larger projects and investing in new equipment.
The company acquired its first concrete crusher, a major step forward in improving efficiency and sustainability. This investment allowed Demo Work to process and recycle concrete directly on-site, cutting costs for clients while reducing environmental impact. It was a defining moment that reinforced the company’s commitment to smarter, more responsible demolition practices.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Demo Work expanded its workforce, added new machinery, and secured a major project with Amazon. This high-profile contract solidified the company's ability to take on large-scale commercial demolitions. Following this success, Demo Work went on to secure contracts with Costco, University Village in Seattle, and the Olympic Center in Bremerton. The company’s impact also gained wider recognition, as it was featured in The News Tribune for its work on the Piper Funeral Home demolition, a project that carried significant historical value for the Tacoma community.
